UQ Communications Inc. 的誕生

UQ Communications Inc. 是日本 KDDI 集團為了發展 WiMAX 事業而成立的公司。KDDI 集團在取得 WiMAX 營運執照後，出資成立了 Wireless Broadband Planning Inc.。

公司更名與成立宗旨

Wireless Broadband Planning Inc. 於 2008 年 3 月 1 日正式更名為 UQ Communications Inc.。公司名稱 "UQ" 結合了高品質（Quality）、大容量（Quantities）和快速（Quickness）的概念，旨在建置普及（Universal）且無所不在（Ubiquitous）的行動網路。

WiMAX 服務與發展

UQ Communications 計劃於 2009 年 2 月開始 WiMAX 測試，並預計在夏季正式推出 WiMAX 服務。據了解，UQ 推出的 WiMAX 包月費率為 3200 日圓。UQ Communications 的成立，標誌著 KDDI 集團正式進軍日本 WiMAX 市場。
